Capital Campaign

Jesus performed the miracle of feeding over 5,000 with only five loaves and two fish and there were twelve baskets of leftovers after everyone had eaten their fill. Another miracle has just happened at Azle Christian Church. To date we have received pledges for our capital campaign of $534,840.00!

When we began talking about a capital campaign to support building a fellowship hall, a kitchen, offices, narthex, additional parking, as well as relocating and renovating the Heritage Room, we were talking about a campaign goal of $300,000. As we met with Maribeth Westerfield from the Church Extension, we were advised that based upon our number of participating members, average worship attendance, and size of our operating budget, $300,000 was a reasonable goal. After a long discussion, a decision was made to push ourselves with a goal of $400,000. This amount was still within the parameters attainable for our church but everyone acknowledged that it would be a stretch. Outreach, mission and ministry usually require leaps of faith.

Little did we know how faithful people would be. We should have known better, because the people associated with this church are always faithful in their dedication to sharing Jesus’ love with others. How did we accomplish receiving pledges of $534,840.00? There was a broad participation from both members and nonmembers. Kip Lemon and Lynn Piercy were the only ones to see the pledges and they accumulated the totals. They said there was not a concentration of pledges, but rather an accumulation of faith, commitment and sacrifice by a large number of you. Not only that, but we had an equally active group of over 40 people involved in working on the capital campaign.

Thanks for your participation in the capital campaign. Thank you for your
prayers. And thank you God for Your guidance for this church. In the words
of one Laurie Feille, “We are really going to build a building!” Miracles don’t just occur back in biblical times.

God has created a miracle at Azle Christian Church!
