The Current Sunday School Study
CYF Sunday School: The CYF have started a new Sunday School Series that is very cool and interesting. We are working from a discussion book called "Banned Questions about the Bible". I don’t think there is a better way to introduce this book other than the author's intro on first page of the book.
“When I was younger, I had a Bible thrown at my head for asking too many questions during a Sunday school class. Granted, I was probably even more provocative than your average adolescent, but I really did have a lot of legitimate questions about God, my faith, Jesus, and the Bible. The message I got at the time was that church isn’t the place for questions. Seriously? If we can’t ask the tough, keep-you-awake-at night questions within our faith communities, then what good are they? I left organized religion behind for about ten years, until I found a place where my questions not only would be heard and tolerated but also would be respected and wrestled with. Beyond that, the good people at Chalice press had either the nerve or the lack judgment necessary to offer me a book series to help others struggling with theses same questions. In these pages you’ll find fifty of the most provocative challenging or otherwise taboo questions that many of us have wondered about but few have actually asked. I assembled an incredible team of respondents to offer their views on these hard questions. Their responses range from the personal to the profound and from sarcastic to deeply touching. I’m deeply grateful for each of them and for their commitment to sharing their hearts, minds, and experiences. The goal of this book is not resolve these difficult issues once and for all, but rather to open up an ongoing dialogue that allows us all to talk more openly together about what we believe and what we don’t, and perhaps more importantly, why we believe it. I strongly believe that any faith worth claiming should stand up to rigorous examination and should also be open to change over time. I hope that this collection is one step in your continuing journey as a person of faith, whatever that may look like to you.”

Chi-Rho Sunday School - The Chi Rho has been working for a while studying the many key figures of the Bible, and now they have begun studying the different parables of Jesus and discovering how they can apply them to their daily lives.
The Youth Groups
CYF is the Christian Youth Fellowship and is the name of our high school age group, grades 9-12. Our CYF attends the Trinity Brazos Area CYF Fall and Winter retreats, as well as the Trinity Brazos Area CYF Summer Camps in Athens, Texas.
Chi-Rho- Chi and Rho are the first two letters of the Greek word Cristos which means Christ or Messiah. This also refers to our middle school aged groups, grades 6-8. Our Chi Rho group attends the Trinity Brazos Area Chi Rho Fall and Winter retreats as well as the Trinity Brazos Area Chi Rho Summer Camps in Athens Texas.
JYF is the Junior Youth Fellowship and is the name of our elementary school group, grades 3-5. Our JYF participate in the Trinity Brazos Area JYF Summer Camp in Athens Texas.
All of our youth meet in our Multi Use Building (MUB) on Sunday evenings from 4:00pm-5:30pm. We meet together to play games, worship God, and then we split the age groups up and have a Bible Study. The CYF and Chi Rho groups also go on an annual mission trip every year.
The Current Bible Study
Our JYF group (4th-5th graders) is currently studying the book of Mark in depth. They are going chapter by chapter through the book trying to get a better understanding of Mark's gospel.
Our Chi-RHO and CYF have been working through the book of Revelation, chapter by chapter, trying to break down the complex metaphors and imagery in the book. The purpose of our study is to get a better understanding of the book of Revelation and apocalyptic (revelations) and eschatological literature (end times) in general.
