This Sunday, June 13, during worship service we take another step in that journey as we make our commitments for the Debt Reduction Campaign. Pledge cards will be handed out during the worship service and we will bring our pledges forward again. After worship service we will have a fellowship lunch in our new fellowship hall. For those who can’t make a pledge at this time, they can just bring forward a blank card so they can participate in the moment. You will be contacted this week to remind you of Commitment Sunday. If you can’t be there this Sunday, you can turn in a pledge to the church office or someone will be glad to bring you a pledge card and pick the pledge card up. June 20 will be Celebration Sunday as we celebrate the gifts that have been presented.

During a Sunday worship service in June, 2007 people marched forward to deposit their pledge cards into a basket in front of the communion table. To see adults and youth triumphantly come forward to make their pledges toward our Capital Campaign was inspirational. You could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in worship service that day. But at the same time, no individuals stood out. There was a sense of unity or team spirit. We were not just making a pledge to give a certain amount of money; rather we were making a pledge about the direction of this church for service and sharing that unity with our community. We all pledged to start a faith journey that not only included building a building, but also included a journey to follow God’s will for this church in service.
